Meet La Vie en Fleurs, the first design in my Artist Tunisian Crochet Collection.
This sweater combines Tunisian crochet with cross-stitch embroidery worked directly over the crocheted fabric. The Front features a large vintage-inspired rose bouquet, while the Back is embroidered with the French phrase “LA VIE EN FLEURS” surrounded by small floral details.
The construction itself is intentionally simple: the sweater is made from 4 rectangular pieces — Front, Back and 2 Sleeves. There is no armhole shaping or complicated sleeve shaping. The wide rectangular Sleeves are gathered at the wrists with crochet ribbing to create a soft puffed shape.
The Tunisian Simple Stitch fabric creates a natural grid, so the embroidery is worked directly over the finished panels:
1 Tunisian stitch × 1 double row = 1 cross-stitch square.
The embroidery charts remain the same size for every sweater size; on larger sizes there is simply more background around the design.

ABOUT THE EMBROIDERY
The embroidery is worked after the Front and Back panels are crocheted and before the sweater is assembled.
Each square on the chart represents one complete cross stitch. The natural structure of Tunisian Simple Stitch makes it possible to embroider directly onto the crochet fabric without using a separate canvas.
